Name: Chantelle
Age: 16

Chantelle is a soft spoken, beautiful young lady that the ICA team had the pleasure of meeting in the village of Besali. She is one of seven children in her family. The children range in age from 6-20 years old. All of her siblings of primary school age have attended Besali’s CIC/ICA primary school, which was built in 2010.

Chantelle told us that G.S. Besali had enough text books for everyone and that this made learning easier. At her current secondary school, the text books are not supplied. According to Chantelle, her father “works very hard to send us all to school but there is not enough money for all of the books we need”. She went on to explain that she and her friends share their books since none of them can afford to buy them all.

When she is finished school, Chantelle would like to be a teacher. Outside of the classroom, she plays handball and football with her friends – she is a striker!
